PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Riverside School, located in Lowell, Massachusetts, is a Chapter 766 Approved Private School offers residential and educational services to young males with significant emotional and behavioral problems, including histories of abuse and neglect. The school seeks to combine a high degree of structure with a creative atmosphere that promotes learning for high-risk youth. Program components include a twelve month in-house special education program, a therapeutic residential milieu, a full range of clinical, medical and psychiatric services and a Residential Challenge Program that includes activities such as hiking, biking, canoeing, camping, reading and the opportunity to participate in community service projects. The school also has the capacity, through its Wrap Around Services, to help youths successfully transition to less restrictive levels of care at the completion of the program. Youths may return home to family, live more independently in a group home or be placed with a foster family. Riverside School seeks to help prepare its students to lead productive and fulfilling lives by equipping them with the emotional, behavioral, academic and daily living skills to achieve them.
