PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Touchstone Program, located on 55 acres of land in Litchfield, Connecticut, is a staff –secure residential treatment program serving girls committed to the Department of Children and Families. Gender-responsive programming assists the girls with complex needs including self esteem, trauma, substance abuse, self injury, pregnancy prevention, life skills, pre-vocational/vocational training, anger management skills, parenting classes, and decision making education. The young women have the opportunity to build a trusting one-on-one relationship with an advocate counselor, and aftercare services are provided. The educational program at Touchstone prides itself on bringing out the talents of each young woman in order to make their educational experience a success. The unique vocational program offered at Touchstone School allows for the girls to utilize non-traditional methods of learning through the horticulture, building trades and culinary programs. This program has proven to truly bring out many hidden talents of the young women that have come to Touchstone.
